Santa Margarita 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Winemaker's Notes: From Temeculas smallest winery, this Cabernet Sauvignon was aged four years in seasoned cooperage. Released Nov. 2006, this wine is ready now, but may improve with further aging. TWOL's Notes: ... Barrett Bird specializes in Cabernet Savignon, and his "seasoned cooperage" (some of his barrels predate World War II), give his Cabs a distinct light and mellow characteristic, but pull forward an incrdible heart of fruit, with a signature that is all Barrett's, and truly unlike any of the other Reds in the Valley! In this 2003 vintage are, once again, his estate grown grapes, and WOW, what a finish. Over thirty years in the valley, and this, his 22nd release, has a finish that is as long as the life of this legendary winemaker! After you swallow, what an awsome lingering! At age 86, Barrett continues to craft Cabernets that are way under priced! Only about 300 cases produced. We suggest you snatch up a few, some to drink now, and some to lay down for later! Original Winery Retail list: $12.00
